W. E. Best
Wilbern Elias "W. E." Best was born on June 18, 1919, in east Texas. He was the youngest of five children. He made a false profession of faith at 15. At 20, God changed his heart and life, and W. E. genuinely repented, converted, and knew he was called to preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Some of our assembly members served with and were shepherded by pastor Best (or as Christian brethren often address each other, "by Brother Best") for over 50 years. As of December 2006, our pastor retired. On Friday, June 15, 2007, Bro. Best went home to be with the Lord.
Some of Brother Best's current sermons are available on this site.
Our pastor authored books and pamphlets based on his study and preaching of God's Word; copies of these are freely available on the W. E. Best Book Missionary Trust site.
This biographical information is intentionally limited in personal detail. Most of today's "churches" are focused on people, their history, their problems, their physical & emotional needs, how to catch their eye and attract more of them, and the many fleshly concerns of people. Our pastor and each of us seek to serve our Lord Jesus Christ by obeying Him. And so in this assembly, instead of focusing on "your needs as people" or your interest in us as people, we strive to devote ourselves to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching, and to diligence and watchfulness over our lives and doctrine. This is how our God has directed us to know and enjoy Him in this life, and to prepare for eternity with Him.
